Fine artist Karyn Jones specialises in original figurative and semi abstract oil paintings.
Her main aim is to create work that is most definitely painted and entirely original as an antidote to mass produced visuals. This is accomplished by using rich textures and colours, multiple layers and markmaking. Her main inspiration is to be found in nature and the close study of light, colour and objects. She is also interested in the process of drawing and painting using still life subject matter, concentrating between where the gaze focuses, and how this is translated to a 2 dimensional surface.
Karyn's work can be found in private collections in Europe and the USA. Her larger scale abstract paintings reflect the concept of improbable order in nature, and through colour and texture explore some of these scientific and philosophical interpretations. The occasional allusion to ordered objects or forms, patterns and rhythms, suggests random organisation amongst complexity and amorphousness.
Karyn graduated from art school in with a degree in Fine Art Painting, and spent 12 years in rural France teaching painting and drawing to adult fee paying guests in a chateau. Commencing her PhD studies at Camberwell School of Art in 2005. She is originally from London, but now lives and works in the wild and inspiring Rhodope mountains in Bulgaria.
